Rustic Origin is a registered home based initiative started by Meenakshi Y Jamir. Our purpose is simple - to add beauty and traditions into your spaces.
Rustic Origin directly works with talented home-based women weavers to create the base fabrics that we use for our creations. Through this process, we strive to breach the gap between providing sustainable livelihoods and empowering the weavers that are responsible for the breathtaking woven creations. Through such exposure, our goal is to gradually pave the path to economic independence for the artisans we work with.

On a personal level, this initiative started with my interest in the diversity of woven fabrics available in northeast India, as well as, using my hobby for interior furnishing in a minimalist and boho way. I have been influenced by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi which stresses on a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection where the aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" in nature. This I beleive is true in most hand-made creations such as traditional handloom too.
